From award-winning Hiroyuki Takei, Shaman King was produced as a hit anime in 2001. When he takes a shortcut through a cemetery, Manta Oyamada meets a strange kid with headphones — surrounded by ghosts. The kid is the teenage shaman Yoh Asakura. Tapping the supernatural swordfighting powers of samurai ghost Admidamaru, Yoh fights Bokuto no Ryu, a sword-wielding gang member. But an even more dangerous opponent is stalking Yoh and Manta — a Chinese shaman who wants to possess Amidamaru.

Notice Appertaining To Books Shaman King, Vol. 1: A Shaman in Tokyo (Shaman King #1)
This was my favorite anime as a child. So I think it's more than appropriate to read it now that I've grown more comfortable with manga - reading in general. Well, I can say that manga aren't for everyone. You should like the way the story is presented to really enjoy this experience, but this one is a good place to start. It is not really particular regarding style or message, and is really funny. And about what happens... I'm sure you've read the synopsis. If you haven't I advice you to go

I normally don't like reviewing manga I've read digitally. It is a fact that I have read a physical copy of this volume once or twice, but that would have been nearly a decade ago (if not longer), and I prefer not to write reviews from things so far in the past. That is, if I were to review an individual volume of manga, it would be bound to a recent re-read, as per my "write about everything" drive from the past couple years, but I do feel it is "cheating" to review so much non-physical

Shaman King is the first anime I ever watched and this happened to be the first manga Ive read too. But in all honestly I didnt enjoy this as much as the anime. Yoh is charming like always but I still think Im used to watching him that its not the same but I still loved him a lot. The biggest problem is Manta in this manga because his reactions look so fake and the art where he shouts is just horrible. I enjoyed the parts which didnt appear in the anime like saving children etc. but I dont know

This was a lot of fun. Its filled with action and silly humor by Manta who serves as the books comic relief. The artwork was good and the story is interesting. I think Yoh is a great character and his samurai companion Amidamaru is cool as hell. This looks to be an intriguing series and Im definitely going to continue with it. This first volume of Shaman King is a good time.

SO HAPPY TO BE READING THIS SERIES AGAIN!!I read about 10 volumes back in 2012, but this time I'm planning on getting through the whole series. :)

its about a kid named Yoh Asakura who wants to be the shaman king and he has a samury gost called amidamaru
