Explanation As Books

I wont review Mahmoud Darwishs Mural, which contains the gorgeous 45-page title poem and a second, shorter poem, The Dice Player, both brought over into vigorous English by Rema Hammami and John Berger. Mural was written after Darwish underwent a life-threatening surgical procedure, and the poem bears the scars of that crisis; The Dice Player, his last poem, the poet read publicly in Ramallah just a month before his death on August 9, 2008. Both are powerful, but Mural is the more capacious, aI'm in love. I'm awestruck by how surreal it felt reading this; such intricacy - absolutely phenomenal.

Great!
A lovely banter with death. Perhaps something in myself rejects me~be lenient when the roses pierce from my veins and wound me ~So sing darling goddess I am both the prey Anat and the arrows I am words the funeral oration the call of the muezzin and the martyrI havent said goodbye to the ruins yet So dont be what I was except once once was enough to see how time collapses itself like a bedouin tent in a wind from the north How places split apart and the what-has-gone wears the litter of a
