I enjoyed the earlier books more. There are a lot of characters to keep track of. But I like moving the story through more of the war years.Loved 1-6. 7-9: boring!
Where did everybody go?! This book seemed a complete change of tack to the precending 7 books. I was following the lives of the main characters and then all of a sudden they're gone! How can you craft a 9 book series, follow several characters in intimate details through the majority of them and then suddenly have them disappear? In Paris Encore John Murphy has a cameo role and everyone else I've grown to love was just not there. I'm a little concerned because reviews seem to indicate that they
This eighth book in the Zion Covenant seems to be a "second parter" in the 'get Yacov Lubitkin to the Promised Land' story. We know that in the sixth book of the Zion Covenant his family was trapped in Warsaw, Poland when the Nazi's took over. In the seventh book, his family was arrested for being out after curfew and trying to escape from the Jewish sector. Now, Yacov is discovered in a Catholic church and is smuggled through Germany. And then he shows up years later in the Promised Land in the
This is part of a director's cut, whatever that means, and also much is a repeat of "Twilight of Courage." I really enjoyed the first six books of this series but reading this one so much later is like jumping into the middle of the action and feeling somewhat disconnected. It was nice meeting old friends but it just wasn't the same as the earlier books. It somewhat lacked the heart and soul of the others. Maybe it was just me who was tired of reading about war.
I have a hard time finishing a series when they are as long as this one is. The beginning books are exciting but the excitement seems to dwindle as time goes on and that's exactly how I feel about this series. I thought this book was so boring. It didn't even feel like it was part of this series.
I am grateful someone had the courage to write the book so it will go down in history on how the Jews and others were mistreated. Hopefully this is a lesson learned so history doesn't repeat itself. I recommend the book and the authors.
