really like it. kinda like harry potterI must admit upfront that I am biased - this book was written by one of my good friends here in Chattanooga, Shane Berryhill. I typically stay away from science fiction, as it's not really my thing, but this book creates some great characters. A great read for young adults, but just as entertaining for us older adults as well! The second book is in the works......
If you are jones for something to fill the empty hole in your heart for a Harry Potter like story , pick up this book! The heroes want to be well superheroes and you need to go to school to learn this skill just like you do with magic! This is a fun read and has great promise for sequals and is written by a local Chattanoogan author!
This is one of the funnest books i have ever read. It really reflects the admiration of super heroes from graphic novels in the last four generations. My favorite sections in the book is when it list the technology that they use at Burlington Academy of Super Heroes. The only thing I have to bring up is the lack of depth in the subject. What I am talking about is they talk about one subject for maybe at most a page without going to deep into the subject. Other than that it was a very good book.
I don't know if you're in to super hero books but this one was a good one that reminded me of when I was younger and dreamed of becoming one. It's pretty well written and good for the children within us.
The idea of the world and the plot is right up my alley, but I was disappointed that whatever passion/care the author or editor had for this project, it didn't show through in the final book. There are a number of humorous superhero books available for young readers now--this subgenre seems to really have grown since the release of The Incredibles. This book is geared to a slightly older audience, and has the intriguing trick of making the main character someone who has no superpower at all. Like Batman or Doc Savage or the Phantom, he has gone through many years of rigorous training, both physical and mental, to achieve a certain level of superhuman abilities, but that is not enough
