Ilustration Supposing Books City of Stars (Stravaganza #2)

Dreaming of a city with flying horses was one thing... But coming face to face with someone she knew to be dead - that was something else again. Georgia would love nothing more than to ride horses every day and avoid her annoying stepbrother at all costs. But she could never have guessed that a tiny, antique winged horse figurine would be the key to her escape to another world and another time. When Georgia arrives in a sixteenth-century city called Remora, she is plunged into a dangerous and treacherous world of horse-racing, family honour and deadly rivalry. And there, as a new Stravagante, Georgia will have a dramatic and extraordinary role to play...

Criticism Out Of Books City of Stars (Stravaganza #2)
City of Stars is an enthralling story. The main character is a girl named Georgia who is not confident, doesn't have any real friends and has a bully for a step brother. Then she sees a figurine of a black flying horse in the window of an antique shop. She saves up enough money and buys it, in the process makes a friend of the owner. At the same time, in a country called Talia a winged horse is born, bringing good luck to its region. That night Georgia falls asleep with the horse figurine in her

I am enjoying this series more than I did the first time around. I had mistakenly thought that the whole series was going to follow the same characters, but each book adds a new character to the cast and focuses on them for that book. The first time reading City of Stars I was sorely disappointed that the characters in City of Masks played a smaller role. This time round I really enjoyed the new character Georgia! I also really enjoyed the story of the annual race in Remora and the good di

Top notch Renaissance-Italy style imagery, world building and style plus a great fantasy rendition of the real-life famous horse race in Italy.

What to say about this book? It was freaking amazing! I loved it.Can we just take a moment to wonder at how well Mary Hoffman worked the two worlds? They're just enough different to be interesting, but not so much that it goes overboard. I love it!Sadly though I have mixed views about Georgia, in some ways I loved her, but the stupid mistakes she made where horrible. In some ways I wished Lucien was still the main characters, but in other ways I was glad he wasn't, there would have been far too

Love, love, loved this book.I picked it up after remembering the first book, City of Masks, which I read years ago, not realizing that it was a series. I have fond memories of that book and this second definitely did not disappoint. It helps that the idea of stravagating is absolutely fascinating. If you're interested in themes like time travel, myth or horses this a book for you. I would suggest reading the first book prior to this one however since the events from that book do play a part in

I think this book was too slow for me to finish. It's been a few years, but I do believe it was just too dry or simple for my little 16 year old brain.
