And then every day in between . . . she’s something else entirely. Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism. When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her, and unfortunately she’ll have to do it as a human. Column Based On Books Every Other Day
This book and I had a love/hate relationship. On one hand, I kind of hated it. The writing was HORRIBLY sophomoric, the interactions were juvenile, and the action scenes weren't really believable. The writing didn't sell the story. I think this had the potential to be an awesome book if the execution had been better. The beginning was rough for me. I was really struggling for a while. The attempt at humor was so ridiculous it had me rolling my eyes and sighing. Lines such as:But first, I had to

I really enjoy Jennifer Lynn Barnes writing, she is a very talented writer. She has the rare ability to make her books almost seem poetic at times and I love that. I love how beautifully they flow. The story lines never seems forced or rough. They are always original and well thought out. Her latest book, Every Other Day was no exception to her amazing abilities. This was such an unusual story. Very different from others out there right now.Kali is a demon hunter, one that every other day she is

3.5 starsMuch better than I thought it would be. In fact, the blurb didn't make me want to read it at all. If it weren't for the fact that I really enjoy Barnes other series, Raised By Wolves, I wouldn't have even bothered with this one. But couple that with the fact that it was one of the only things available from the library, and I decided to give it a chance. In the end, it wasn't awesome, but it was an interesting mix of paranormal and sci-fi. There were a lot of things left open at the

I took far, far too long to read this book. It was one of the first things I was approved for on Netgalley, and I downloaded it back in September along with four other books, excited to finally have my hands on these fabulous e-galleys. Unfortunately, I overestimated my ability to read for long stretches on the tiny screen of my iPod, and so while I'd gotten over halfway through this book when it expired, that wasn't enough. The end result was that yesterday, when I decided I felt like finishing

You can also see my review of this terrific book here. My Thoughts: What an awesome book seriously, I hope Ms. Barnes makes a series out of this! Kali is a terrific character human, vulnerable and alone every other day, and every other day shes a killing machine, set to take out preternatural creatures of all kinds. She is deeply haunted, emotionally broken, but willing to open herself up when it matters. The characters that surround her are complex and twists abound people are never exactly

I love everything this woman writes, it is my 7th book by her and I am sure I would give 5 stars to a grocery shopping list written by Jennifer. There is something in her way of telling the story, that it never seems boring, like ever. Now, I am sure I want to read everything she ever had written, so I will go, I need to go for Jennifer Lynn Barnes books shopping. ;)

3.5Kali D'Angelo is a sixteen year old high school student but every other day she hunts preternatural creatures. she can't tell you why or what she is because she has no idea, all she knows is that from the age of twelve, every other day she wakes as something not-so-human. On these days she has super strength and speed, she doesn't feel pain and her blood is toxic to the creatures she hunts. Kali lives in our world but it's a world that is aware of these preternatural creatures. Kali knows she
