This book was amazing. Once u finish the maze runner you will be begging your mom to get you the next book in the series. This book was rich in good themes and ideas. Not only that but rich in good characters and the author did a good job in making the setting. *spoilers* chuck dies and so does AlbyYet another trilogy in the style of The Hunger Games and Divergent. It has been advertised as such and I would agree. The complete series also includes a prequel which I think worked well in explaining the origins of the world the Maze Runner is set in. The story is stranger (for lack of a better word) and the premise not as strong as The Hunger Games and Divergent but the trilogy as a whole is much stronger, and does not taper out in the later books as the other trilogies did. Too much wasn't answered and resolved. I didn't give a flying hoot about any of the characters throughout this entire series, they were all so flat and lacking of emotion and how a real person would react to tragedy. My heart wasn't moved by any deaths, and i'm an easy one to cry and get connected to my beloved characters. It was so messy of a story and unorganized that there was just no room to feel for anybody. I'd recommend skipping this series, or just reading the first book and leaving it
The first book was excellent. The second was good. The third was mediocre. The fourth was again excellent. I'm wondering how the movie series will play out given that all of the script-worthy material has been exhausted. I can't imagine where the movies could go after the first film. The scripts must needs be an immense departure from the books from this point. The only strategy that makes sense to me would be a jump to the fourth book while filling in small details from the second and third.

I don't know why exactly, but those took me a while to finish it, it didn't really have an impact for me. I don't know how to say it differently, it just didn't.
