Another of the great stories by Astrid Lindgren, one of my favourite authors, in any language, for any age group. She was unique. It has to say something about a book that a person would remember it decades after having it read to them. That was the case with this book, and I was afraid that it wouldnt be the book I remember, as thats been my experience with so many previously read books recently.Yes, I had to remember that the book is written for children, but I was still able to find the magic that had enthralled me as a child. The story reads like a fairy tale, with kings and princes, flying horses, dark and dangerous

A very good bedtime read. The story of unwanted adoptee Andy, who discovers he is actually the son of the king of Farawayland. He is taken there and enjoys learning about his true home, but it comes at a price--he must face the evil Sir Kato!Wonderful illustrations, and the tale resonates strongly with Norse myth and legend (hardly surprising, given that Lindgren was Swedish.) However, there are a few quibbles about the lack of development of some promising threads. Mio's best friend Pompoo
4 stars!4 stars!Mio, mein Mio has been one of the few Astrid Lindgren stories that I havent been familiar with during my childhood. I never read the story and I havent seen any movie adaptations - if they exist. I was curious to read Mio, mein Mio, considering that its one of Lindgrens most famous stories. Mio, mein Mio felt a little different that most of the other stories by Lindgren. Mio is having a rather sad childhood. He is growing up in a foster family, which actually doesnt like boys and
Maybe I'm biased because I loved the movie when I was a kid. Maybe the translation that I read is really bad. Or maybe I'm just way too old for a book written for such young kids. Whatever the reason, I really didn't understand what was so great about this book, and I'm disappointed. Ever since I was a kid, I've been looking for this book, and never could order it or anything. I remembered it a little while ago, and was able to order it on Amazon. It felt so flat to me. I felt no connection to
Mio, My Son is a children's book by Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. It was first published in 1954 in Sweden, with the Swedish title Mio, min Mio. The writing is stylised and the story strongly reminiscent of traditional fairy tales and folklore.
