Winter Turning is from the point of view of Winter, the brother of Icicle and Hailstorm. He was a student at Jade Mountain Academy, and is an Icewing. It is scheduled to come out around June. Can't wait, already read Moon Rising!!!!Winter turning is a very good entry in the New Wings of Fire series, and should definitely be read. The book leaves off of a huge cliffhanger from the last book, Moon Rising, and it doesn't take much for the action to start up again. One of my favorite things about the book is the characters. Throughout the whole Wings of Fire series this realism and attachment has been there. From the first book, making me feel for what happened to Clay, to Winter Turning, where I felt Winter's struggles.
Winter was a far more enjoyable character when you weren't stuck in his head. I would have preferred a story from Kinkajou's perspective (namely because I never know what she's thinking or will say next, so she's an exciting conundrum).Winter spent the entire book brooding like a stereotypical, downtrodden, YA male protagonist, and arguing why the idiotic rules in place in his society are more important than the friends how have proven their loyalty and devotion to him time and time again. Winter is at jade mountain academy, his life was hard. Winter is a ice-wing who is almost below the seventh circle. When he meets moon, he tries to hide the feeling for her and his winglet. When moon has a vision Winter is afraid for his life. He goes to help moon and his winglet make the prophecy come untrue. While he was with them, he searched for his long lost brother hailstorm, who was captured by the sky-wings. Is hailstorm alive? Will moon ever feel the same way about him? Will they find
I think it was good. A little confusing, let's be honest, but altogether pretty good.
I am a huge wings of fire fan and the reason I rated this 3 stars is because:Flaw1:I don't understand the rankings.:'( Flaw2: do you guys remember in book 6 when moon said the profecy it was reported in bbok7
"Winter Turning" is by far the best book in the series so far. Winter is a believable character, although he's difficult to like. The magic and the quest themes are pretty standard, but in this book they're used to explore character growth. Kiddo is still reading these and loving them, and I typically read along just so that we can discuss it together. I would have finished this one even if he hadn't, though.
